Signing up with Nevada 511
- Creating an account is NOT mandatory on this website; however if you do, you’ll be able to personalize your experience and receive traffic notifications.
- Select ‘Sign Up’ from the menu options in the top right corner
- Enter your name, email, and create a password. Click ‘Sign Up' when done.
- You will get an email to verify your account, click the link that was sent to your email.
- Including a phone number will allow you to receive text notifications, you will receive an SMS (text) with your confirmation code. Note this is in addition to the email verification.
Creating & Saving a Customized Route
- Enter your start and end locations by typing the addresses into the address fields. Alternatively, you may also right click on the map. Once you have entered the route locations, click ‘Drive’.
- Review the routes generated and select the one that suits you best.
- When done, enter a name for your route and click ‘Save’.
Creating a Notification for your Route
- Once your route is saved, you will be asked if you want to be notified of events on this route. Click ‘Create Route Notification’
- You will be redirected to the notification creation page. Enter the required information for your route, select a delivery option (email or SMS), and click ‘Save’.
- You will now be notified of any future events that affect your route.

What is Nevada 511
Nevada 511 is a free travel and traffic service courtesy of the Nevada Department of Transportation (Nevada DOT). This free travel service provides travel updates, roadside assistance, traffic congestion information and more to the motoring public in the state of Nevada.
Do your cameras record?
No, our cameras do not record. Any video footage from these cameras is not available. The cameras are provided as a courtesy to the public, but are primarily used by NDOT for traffic monitoring
Where does the traffic and travel information come from?
Nevada 511 is located inside the Nevada Department of Transportation’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) and gathers its data and travel information from sensors and cameras installed along the roadways. Nevada DOT’s advanced traffic management system (ATMS) captures the data and sends it to Nevada 511’s system including the website, app, social media channels, and Nevada 511 operators.
How can I access Nevada 511?
You can access Nevada 511 on the web at nvroads.com or on our Google Play and App Store app. You can also dial 511 too.

For any questions or comments, click on the "About" menu then click on "Contact Us". A page will pull up for you to fill out the required fields for your request.

Click “Sign Up” and fill out the required fields to receive My 511 traffic notifications. Once you create an account you have the option of creating notifications for your route(s) so you can be notified of any incidents affecting your commute.
Do you have to pay for any Nevada 511 services?
No, all Nevada 511 services including the app and roadside assistance are free courtesy of the Nevada DOT.
